Power Window Relay vs Power Window Control Module?

89 3.2
I'm trying to track down why my passenger window will not work with either switch. Window is currently up (closed).
I pulled out the switch on the pass. door and there are 12v on all but the ground wire with the ig. key on.

With the battery unplugged I'm getting continuity between the ground and blue or brown and blue-with-black-stripe wires - so I think the switch is working.

I think the next step is to pull the motor and try to get it spinning with 12v.

Before I do that I see on that there is a window motor relay behind the gauges and listed by our host Part#944-615-116-01-OEM. In Bentley page 970-42 I see a "Power Window Control Unit". Are these the same thing?

I guess since I'm seeing 12v at the switch the power window control unit or relay is working. Correct?

Is my next step to pull the door card and test if the motor runs by itself?
Thanks,
-Henry

Henry, I would try two things before taking out the motor. Sometimes, it only needs a little "coaxing". I learned these from jlex. Take out the speaker, you will be able to see the gears. Get the allen wrench in your tool roll, put it in the center of the gear. Now press the switch while turning the allen wrench.

If that doesn't work, take out the door card & with a punch or similar, gently tap the base of the motor a few times then try the switch. This one worked for me. Good luck!

Success! Took off door card and plastic sheet. Tapped on the end of the motor with the plastic end of a screwdriver. Not tapping very hard. The window is now working. Thanks all for input.

I was looking around to see how to get the motor out and that did not look very fun. I'm sure there is an "easy" way but I would have found it out the hard way. Glad I didn't have to do that.
