Another 'what is this part' post
I have owned this car for over 10 years and never saw this before.
I have some audio equipment installed under the passenger seat, a sirius xm box, and some connections to allow my stereo to connect to an iphone via the headphone jack. I was digging around under there to tuck away the cables, and noticed this wiring harness that is not connected to anything. Anyone know what this is? There are 8 numbered ports, and its a black plastic connector. The numbering on it is so tiny and its tucked under the seat so I could barely take this photo let alone read the numbers. Also, everything in the car works perfectly; stereo, cruise, lighting, AC, heat, etc. so whatever this is wouldnt seem to be too important. Or perhaps its some previous audio wiring that was made redundant when the previous owner installed the aftermarket stereo and satellite radio? I tried to follow it back, but it quickly goes under the center console and I dont want to take everything apart just to follow the cable

Looks like the connector for power seat installation.

My '87 has the same jack. When I bought the car I believe it was connected to an 80s-style cell phone module - the type of phone that had a separate send/receive module and handset. Checking the PET, there was a "cell phone prep" package installed at the factory.
Btw, I saved the phone in case I ever wanted to reinstall it in the interest of originality. You don't say whether your car has a power adjustable passenger seat (mine doesn't) but this also could be the connector to a passenger-side power seat, which would not be connected if the car did not have that option. |

BTW, My '83 Targa had standard manual seats. I changed them out several years back to later model power seats. The car was prewired with the harnesses so all I had to do was plug them in - hence I knew that connector purpose well.
