Dashboard sub-structure?
('81 911 SC) I am considering hiding my GPS receiver under the dashboard, either under the speaker cutout or in the holes above the glove box area. Can someone confirm for me that the dash pad does not have any metal in it that would interfere with this?
While I'm at it, can you think of any other issues with this idea? |

Mea Culpa - I explained it poorly. With the dash pad off, it would sit in one of the two holes above the glove box on the top of the dash structure. I'd then place the dash pad on top of the GPS receiver. The receiver would be in the red box in the below photo:

That red box is where my gps antenna is and it works well. I have a 1985 with the leather covered dash.
Actually, i put the antenna on the metal right next of that hole as the correct side needs ro face upwards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just have a dashboard on my workbench so I checked it with a magnet and that area has no metal. I outlined the metal areas on the flat area for you.
