Question Window sticker questions

My '83 SC doesn't have its window sticker, so I'm working on an Excel file to print a replica for my own personal use.

Could someone who has an original SC-era window sticker post its dimensions?
SCs were made during the end of the Porsche+AUDI days, and they looked like this one:

Also, I've seen pics of some that look like they were printed on whitish paper, and others printed on a more natural-colored paper (could just be age). Which was correct?

Hey, John...

My '78 window sticker, is the same except for wording in the right panel.

It is exactly:

297mm (11-11/16") wide and 215mm (8-15/32") high.

Good luck.

Mine is close to white, but a little yellowish tinge, but that could be from age. It's been in an envelope since the car was new.

Thanks for the feedback; looks like there were small changes made in these window stickers during the SC run. The later pic I posted is a bit different from the early-SC ones you two have. The later one looks longer/wider, closer to legal size, while the dimensions of the earlier ones are closer to letter size.

I googled a Porsche font, which looks like the one used on later PCNA window stickers (i.e., 3.2 Carreras & later). It's pretty much spot on, with the exception of the "R". Anyway, this is a WIP and I can tweak the font later as time permits. If I ever get the Mulroneys (or font) just right, I'll be happy to post all of it here, FWIW.

3.2 Carreras (starting in MY '85, I think) were imported by the newly designated PCNA (as opposed to the former Porsche+Audi setup)

Given that Porsche can't legally provide us with replacement Mulroneys, I think it would be quite easy (if a bit time consuming initially) to create a set of templates that would allow us to print near replicas for all versions of Mulroneys used over the years. These would be designed and intended only for personal use (not for selling or misrepresentation, etc.). So far I'm just working off of random scans I've found from Pelican searches or Google--not the best source material by any means. Regardless, I'm confident that what I've made so far is 95% accurate with little effort on my part ... but it's getting the final 5% that would justify the templates for public release! But I'll need access to the originals (or good copies) to ensure complete fidelity. Not surprisingly, I'm starting by creating a late-SC era Mulroney (e.g., for my '83). Once that's done, I'm sure it will be easy to transfer what was learned from the first one to subsequent versions.

So, anyone who wants to send me any good scans--or originals to borrow--will be my friend!

Case in point: Here's a pic of one of my draft versions--still tinkering around with the exact scale, orientation, and alignment of many of the items ... an original from this era would make things easier!

John - those look great! One thing, if you're looking for info on the Web, it's a "Monroney" sticker, named after Sen. Monroney and the subsequent "Monroney Act".

Cheers

d.

ps would love to see you make some for the Carrera!!

Thankfully, Google has a good spellchecker!

True, but not of the period of mine above and not of the same quality, IMO....

I think the late-SC, Porsche+AUDI window sticker replica (see above post no. 12) is about as good as it can be barring direct comparison with an original. So now I'm using crustychief's above scan to work on an early-SC, Porsche+AUDI template. It's going much quicker this time around; should have something up soon....

I've trialed a couple different papers and print settings, but haven't hit on the right combination that produces that vintage feel yet.

The templates will only be available for free; they're intended for private use--not sales, vehicle misrepresentation, etc.

Thanks, snbush!!!

Here's a draft of the early-SC label (just a ripoff of crustychief's); not final by any means (e.g., Porsche+Audi font is not right), but more done than undone at this point:

I got hold of a 70's Porsche Monroney, and was able to make a nice template, about 99% there:

The point is, I'll need to find additional Monroneys from each era before I can fabricate an accurate replica.
