Airbox Intake Port Size

I need to replace the airbox on the '77 2.7. I have a seller with an airbox off a 3.0 liter engine, and seemingly they are interchangable. I can't find a part number that's easily accessible.

Can anyone confirm it's the same part between the 2.7 and 3.0 liter engine?

seems like its the 38mm intake that is the one, but looking to confirm as I have seen a 44mm variety as well.

Thanks!

J

1980 to 1983 US 3.0 versions with Lambda smog control will work for your 77.
78/79 and all Euro motors are the larger version.

CIS airboxes........

The airboxes for ‘76 -‘77 CIS have 34-mm ID with intake runner# of -2R, ‘78–79 have 38-mm ID with -4R intake runners, and the ‘80-‘83 SC US come with -2R runners (34-mm ID airboxes). It is easy to determine the correct airbox if you know the intake runners (2R or 4R) used with airbox. Just to be sure, measure the ID of the tubes at the side of the airbox.

ok - I don't think I can get to measure the ID without removing mine... it's not out yet... do you happen to know what the OD might be? or any other way to tell in situ?

Look closely at any of the six (6) intake runners installed to the air box. The parts # are on the outside of the intake runners. The last 2 characters are either -2R or -4R. -2R runners are the smaller (34-mm ID) and the bigger one -4R (38-mm ID). No need to measure them unless you want to verify the actual dimensions.
