Window Motor Replacement Help Needed

My passenger side window is now rendered inoperative. It was working slowly last week and recently quit with a very hot motor. All the wires appear to be fine and all of the switches work. I am presuming that the motor is bad. What I would like to know, is this,,,,,Is replacement of the motor easy enough for a shadetree mechanic and if so, where can I find the procedure. The bad motor is on my 87 Cab and the window is in the up position. Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you can get a copy of Bentley manual for your car, they have a section on removing the window in the door.

You don't need to remove the window to replace the motor. It's a bit of a wrist turner, but it can be done.

look here for some insight-

at the bottom, in the window regulator how to.

I used Wayne's 101 Projects to remove my regulator/motor. It wasn't very hard.

JDANIEL>>Do you know if the removal can be done without the lowering of the window?? I cannot roll the window down,,,it is stuck in the up position.

Your lucky, if the window was down you would probably not be able to get to the motor since the glass would be in the way.

You should be able to answer that yourself after removing the door panel. Do not forget to tape the top of the window glass to the top of the door frame. You do not want it to come crashing down after you remove the bolts.
