New 911 3.2 DME, Beta Tester Wanted
At long last, I have finished the 911 3.2L Carrera version of my SPORT DME! Naturally, it inherited the optional OBD+ upgrade module, but I still need to update the software for RPM and cylinder head temperature. However, all other sensors are working!
I am looking for one more Beta tester. Ideality, someone with a later model 911 3.2L and both NBO2 and WBO2 sensors. This Beta test DME will have an OBD+ module to help verify the DME and that the vehicle side sensors are functioning correctly. This means you will need a Windows 7, 8 or 10 laptop/tablet and a good grasp on Motronic engine management. I mainly need a screen shot of graphing the “NBO2 Analog” and “NBO2 Digital” sensors at idle with the engine warmed up. If the waveform looks good, then just drive it around and provide feedback. I will send it with a stock 28pin 1989 3.2L program, but you can swap in your 28pin performance chip. It will also accept 24pin, however, testing needs to be done with chips based on the newer 28pin program due to the ICV idle calibration. Here is a picture of the 911 3.2L Carrera Beta Unit: Below is a side by side look at the internals with the OBD+ module mounted and un-mounted: So far, I have very good feedback from two different Beta testers, so my level of confidence at this point is high. The 911 and 944 DMEs are nearly identical, and I literally have hundreds of customers running different versions of them for well over 5 years. The main difference is the injector driver calibration. I fully expect all of the Beta units will perform flawlessly. However, as an engineer, I prefer objective evidence to support that confidence. Send me a message if you are interested! I'd be all over this, but the car won't see the road here until at least March. I will be following the thread for beta results and subsequent roll out into production.

I'm definitely game and I have the time. The OBD+ upgrade is something I've been interested in because of various inexpensive data logging products including the cool onboard video overlay systems.
I have been doing computer and network support for 30 years so I can supply pretty much anything in the way of needed data. My car currently has a 24 pin DME that System Consultants updated to a 28 pin and it has the last version factory chip (1267355358) in it. I'll shoot you a DM because I'm interested in any additional capabilities it has.

That's a great news indeed! I have been watching your website for years, hoping that one day you would extend your 944/951 product to 911. Too bad I am too far here in France, I would have been pleased to help do some beta testing with my 88 Carrera.
May I just ask, only by curiosity, what makes the difference in injector driver calibration between 944 and 911. It seems that the circuitry around the 0127 IC is identical between the two, though I can't really compare all component values. I have a decent copy of the 951 Motronic schematic, but the only one I found for the '87 911 Motronic schematic is not good enough and some component values are unreadable. |
