Where does this attach?
I'm getting down to the wire in swapping a 3.2 into my '76, but was going over the connections to the engine, etc., and found something that I don't know where it is supposed to attach.
In the photo, I am trying to figure out where the vacuum thingie that attaches to the airbox actually attaches to the engine. I originally attached it to a 10mm engine tin screw right below the airbox, but this doesn't seem right as I don't think the engine will do into the bay with it right there. Can anyone help me out? Thanks! Mike |

If it's this vacuum thingy . . . pull it off and plug the hole in the airbox

Thanks!!! It was that vacuum thingie. BTW, I've been using your website pretty extensively throughout this swap and just wanted to tell you that it has helped a bunch. I'm putting an '88 3.2 into a '76 and most of the stuff has been the same.

Mike:
Hope it helped more than hurt. Great feeling when it fires up for the first time, and the feeling just keeps on coming every time you hit 4000. Good luck.

Marc,
One more question (a stupid one, I'm sure). The DME wiring harness - when it comes into the engine compartment - has a large bundle of brown wires that I am assuming are a bunch of ground wires. Here's the stupid part - does this attach to the engine somewhere (the PO of my engine tagged this bundle "engine"), or does it simply attach to a ground lug on the chassis in the engine compartment? Thanks alot!! Mike

There is a large bundle of brown wires that attach to the intake manifold on the left side of the engine - going to the #1 cylinder, IIRC.

Mike:
The ground harness that you are talking about has more than 3 brown wires . . . . yes. If so there is a bolt (if it's in the right hole) between the number 1 and 3 intake runners facing the coil. That is where this ground harness is bolted. I think the bolt has a 10mm head.

Thanks, I really appreciate the help. Alot of this stuff isn't intuitive when you're standing there with a handful of DME harness and an empty engine bay.
