Porsche Project dash switches

So, my restorer is nearly through my 1971 VW camper that now has a 1985 3.2 911 engine, transmission, brakes etc.

he has also customised a 911 dash to fit which looks awesome (surprisingly) and we want to use 911 gauges, and switches to make it look "right".

I have figured the standard 911 hazard switch, headlight switch, rear defroster switch and gauges but I'm struggling with the wiper switch and ignition.

The wiper switch on a 911 is on the column but this will not work on a VW bus column so I need a dash switch for wipers (much like my 356 has) but struggling to find a duel speed wiper switch that will look "right". Any suggestions?

Also, the 911 ignition switch seems to have a locking mechanism to the steering but this wont work with the VW bus. Did any 911's have a simple ignition switch without a steering lock? Any suggestions appreciated?

Really early 911s didn't have the steering lock, I think. Search the parts catalogs. However, you can drill and pin open any later ignition switch assembly. Or saw off what interferes.

There is a Porsche three or 4 position you switch you could use, though no insert indicating it's for a wiper.

Perhaps a fan control switch from a 964 for the wiper switch?

My ‘75 does not have a steering lock, if that helps locate an ignition switch

I'm pretty sure my 75 does have a steering lock - it's just broken...

I'm seconding the fan control switch from a 964, but you can make just about any switch look "Porsche" - just get a set of the billet knobs from Rennline and adept them to your switch.
