Would you ever let a shop use the rear sway bar mount as a lifting point?
I rolled my car into a shop and they swore up and down that the rear sway bar mount was the best place to put a lift pad under the rear of a 911. They don't see 911's often. I recommended they put it just foward of the torsion bar tube area... the same place where the usual P-car shops put it.
Just thought I would check with you guys to see if anyone has had a bad experience lifting from there. |

I wouldn't, just because it's a PITA to replace one if it breaks.

Good god no. Just ahead is better cause if my memory serves right, part of the chassis runs right there.

Uh, yeah, there or if they only have one lifting point in the rear they should use a chisel point wedged between the case halves.
It's amazing isn't it, you just have to wonder about people in shops sometimes...

Those mounts are a Porsche-specific weak spot to begin with. Why would anyone put anymore stress on them? NUTS!

For pre-87s, ust in front along the seam of the tub. This holds true for the front as well. Late year Carreras and newer had built-in jackpads.

Why not right under the floor pan at each corner? Then you can drive home and pound it all back flat with a big rubber mallet, busting off all the sound deadening material like I did...
