Turbo Tie rod install - help!

I’ve got a 1971 911. Rebuilt the steering box and rest of front suspension. I also got the turbo tie rods on. I forgot to mark which old tie rod is for the drivers side and which is the passenger side so now I don’t know what to adjust the new ones to match.

Is the drivers side or passenger side the longer tie rod? Does anyone remember? Thank you!! |

Sorry, no help from me either, but look at the bright side, you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

As far as i can gather from this old thread the consensus seems to be that they are identical

There is a section on the turbo tie rod install guide where they mention lining up the old one with the new one to adjust them accordingly, but there doesn't seem to be a mention of identifying the left from the right. -Matt |

Center the rack, use a tape measure, scribe a line in the tires and get it close to even at beer can height. Then take it in for an alignment.

Around the 9:21 mark he illustrates the sides and respective measurements. But as Matt mentioned, they should be identical, and as 911obgyn mentioned, center the rack and rough set the toe, then either precise align, or take it to a shop. |
