The big axle-puzzle...please help!
Car: 911 SC -78
Transmission: 930 4-speed -86 We need some strong axles between transmission and wheels. As far as i know, 911's (non-turbo) had 100mm CV's up to 1985, when they got 108mm CV's (same diameter as Turbo CV's) Wayne sells complete axles with two new CV's, boots...whole sheebang: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/por_911M_suspen_main.htm So big question is: Can i use late Carrera axles with 108mm CV's that Wayne is selling, and bolt them to our 108mm 930 flanges? According to this picture in Waynes catalog: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/images/suspension/911_cv_axle.jpg ,those new axles come with new stubs (splined thingies that outer CV bolts into, which is then stuck in the wheel). In that case we could remove complete SC axles together with stubs and CV's and just replace them with late Carrera axles....bolt on! That way, we would get bigger CV's (108mm) and they would bolt straight to our 930 tranny which has 108mm flanges....problem solved? Somebody who care to enlighten me? Wayne? John W.? Superman? Spiderman? X-man? Thanx!
