Turn Signal Mystery

Returning from the Targa California yesterday from Paso Robles to Scottsdale, my turn signals quit working. About 6 hours into the trip, it was a bit hot coming across from Blythe into AZ, I stopped for less expensive gas just inside AZ. After that stop, not sure when, turn signals simply would not work. No flash from the green arrows. Stalk feels the same either way.

About an hour later when I got into metro Phoenix they were working again. This happened once before. Any ideas? Heat (was only around 90 so not excessive heat)? Otherwise the car was running strong.

Car is a 1969 912 chassis updated to an RS Clone with an '86 3.2L.

I had problems and was told to check the fuses and make sure the contacts are clean. I also replaced the left front and right front fuses when I was at it. Is your flasher relay good?

Thought about that. Have changed the original box to the blade type, so all good on the fuse side.

Check the grounds on the system.

It may well be the relay itself.

Where will I find the grounds? Will check the relay as the flashers don't work

Do have a wiring diagram for your car? It might be that the flasher relay is fused, so you need to check your fuses as the first thing to do. Is the flasher relay getting power? Check with a test lamp or meter.

Is the relay not behind the fuel level instrument? Pull out and you will see it,
