G50 5 speed input shaft compatibility?
I've got a SBH N/A G50 fitted, think it's a /01 - from a 3.2 anyway.. Over time, I've collected all the gearsets from a G50/50 except 1st. Because it seems very short-geared and horribly buzzy when you make healthy amounts of torque in a light car.
I've been offered a G50/50 input shaft with the desired 41:13 gearset - bonus, already shortened. Seems too good to be true.. Will a G50/50 input shaft fit into an N/A G50 transmission, or is there anything else incompatible/needs to be changed? Or is this just entirely incompatible? I'm concerned intermediate case length (longer for the bigger ring & pinion on the /50, right?) might cause other "stuff" on the shaft to be different - but I don't even know enough to be dangerous here, and there's all sorts of other things that could be issues as well...

It’s not going to be the right length. Even shortened it will still be over an inch too long, because of the ring gear diameter. The delta between an NA and a Turbo is in the differential case.

I happen to need a 1st gear set for a G50-50 for my own car.
