spindle mod
I sent a set of Bilstein struts to Performance Shocks to have the spindle raised and new guides installed. Turned out the 2 struts were some what different, one has a pressed on cap with a seal and the other one did not have the cap and was slightly longer. I thought the one strut was just missing a cap and Performance Shock would be able to provide one, but no. They were returned to me. I can make a cap and install the seal. I think I should be able to install the guides. Freeing the spindle up and raising it is another story. Any info on how to accomplish that would be appreciated. Appears to be just one weld spot on the spindle collar, so I am guessing that it is a press fit as well. If so, how does one relocate it without damage to the tube. All info is appreciated. Thanks, Bob

20 ton press - minimum. 50 ton is better.

I did this a few years ago to some Boge struts. Getting the spindle loose from the tube/housing was where all the work was. I ground out the rosette weld with a die grinder, then it was easy to press off the spindle. In my case I was not reusing the tube/housing, so I didn't mind sacrificing it. You'd have to be more precise/careful if you're saving the housing.

Elephant racing sells shorter seal holders for a tiny bit more wiggle room on compression, especially handy if you have cut the bumpstops.
By the sounds of it you are better off dealing with a different place for your needs. If you're up to DIYing it you are best to find access to a mill, and also a very big press. For most people having it done is worthwhile. Don't forget that once you raise the spindles you should be prepared to address bump steer correction. Cheers and have fun!!!

I have a mill and a 55 ton press. Appears that you would find a way to secure the spindle part in the press saddle, take an 1 1/4'' rebar or similar, insert it into the tube and press the tube section down via the rebar. Easier said, but will give it a try. I appreciate all the response. Bob

Also, depending on the wheels you are running, be careful you do not raise the spindles too much and create interference with the wheels. I had Elephant Racing raise my spindles 17mm because I am running deep sixes and wanted to be sure we had no issues. ER did a great job.
