Fitting the connections while everything is loosely attached to the car is the way to go. I spent way too long fighting my lines when installing the carrera cooler with everything bolted down tight until I loosened all the attachment points and then it all went together easily.

I know using a sealant is controversial. I did not use Teflon plumbers tape, although it appears so. I used a oil pipe “dope” the guy who inspected my oil cooler recommended. In his many years of experience this material has worked well. We’ll see, fingers crossed.
