Thumbs up Optima Installed...now some number questions

Thanks to those of you who answered my questions regarding battery rebuilding/refurbing....suggesting the optima....and then giving me some input on how to install the optima...

Got the battery installed today....had a small problem getting fuel to the tacet pump...a little sucking solved that... pulled all six plugs, cleaned them up a bit... hit each Weber with a small shot of WD-40....and she fired!!!! ....

It was great to hear her after 8 long months.... let her warm up to about 150...and took off.... no problems!! ....other than the usual oil leak etc... FELT GREAT!!

Now I've got a couple of questions regarding some engine numbers.... I think I've mentioned in previous posts that I have a '72T.... I made the mistake of trading the engine and tranny with a guy after purchasing the car for next to nothing, for a 901 tranny and an engine out of a "supposedly" 71T... Did all of this in an effort to get the car running as quickly as possible, the original MFI pump was shot...and the engine was seized.

Perhaps some of you could help me decipher these numbers....and tell me what is actually in this car...

Car chassis #: 9112102743
Engine Shroud #: 901.106.101.5R
Engine number right side shroud: *6107931*
Engine driver side valve cover (above): 901.105.111.0R

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...I'm closing on a home in the next couple of weeks...and plan to get down and dirty with this vehicle once the dust settles....

Thanks in advance....

JonD

JonD, from the Porsche Family Tree book:

Car chassis #: 9112102743
1972 911T Coupe, almost one of the last ones for that year model

Engine number right side shroud: *6107931*
from a 1970 911T Karmann Coupe, also one of the last ones for that model year.

Hope this helps

Thanks Jordi...

Saw your post regarding an event at your place.... sounds interesting....

Engine from a '70T.... oh well.... at least it runs....

I'm wondering how I should approach this thing... Webers, permatune unit currently installed... she's leaking oil out of the rear crankshaft pulley that drives the fan.... tach not working... needs an ignition switch... I'm currently starting it via a dummy ignition switch... yet the steering wheel lock is still working... I use the original key in the original ignition switch to unlock the wheel... Fortunately I keep this thing locked up and covered in the garage...

If you can wait a couple of weeks you are welcome to come to my house and drop the engine to take care of your oil leaks at the same time that we will do mine... two is always bettern than one

Please drop by Jack's house this Saturday, I'm sure that we will give you way too much advice on what to do with your car.

regards
