Transmission Components Swap

I have a 1999 911 Carerra. The main transmission casing is cracked and I need to take everything from the cracked casing into the new casing I purchase. Looking for info, videos on doing this. Transmission is out and apart and ready.

You are in the air cooled forum.
You should search/post in the 996/997 technical forum…
Porsche 996/997/991 Forum - Pelican Parts Forums

And Rennlist and search/post in both the 996 and 997 forums…
https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-technical-discussion-areas-49/

Good luck.
Johan

Besides being in the wrong forum I'm thinking you should probably hand it off to a pro who has the tools needed for setting up the R+P

A lot of knowledge needed and a few tools, including a large press. Find a knowledgeable buddy or Pay up.

Correct. There is no factory documentation covering the full process of rebuilding the G96 / G86.20 Getrag transmissions. (I actually wrote my own, just to keep track.) In addition to the ring-and-pinion set-up, your rebuilder will also need a 50-ton press to get the gears off the pinion shaft, unless you plan to reuse the front pinion bearing. Which would be a terrible idea.

I actually got all the info I needed. I’m not changing anything gears etc on shafts. I have removed reverse fork and 1st and 2nd fork. I will remove the other two forks and than move to new case tomorrow. Thanks and I will post on other forum. I don’t need any press but I do have that available. I would not do this work if I had to change any components gears etc.

To replace the maincase, you'll need to check and with 90% probability re-set the ring & pinion gears, and adjust the diff bearing preloads.
