3.0 teardown

This 3.0 was running badly........reportedly was making nasty banging noises....it was shipped to me to tear-down/investigate

I think i spotted the problem.....

yep...this is the first time I've seen this too.....just on the 4,5,6 side...plugs on the 1,2,3 side looked sooty/rich...plugs on the 4,5,6 side looked unused.....leakdown on the 1,2,3 side good, on the 4,5,6 side bad...likely bent valves. not easy to see in the pic, but definitely valve/pistons trying to share the same space, at the same time.

Also, no base gaskets installed....which added to the interference.

Yes, that is what you are looking at there....pistons are rotated 180 degrees out. Lot's of other strange assembly practices going on as well....all rockers shafts are RTV'd on the ends , no base gaskets on the cylinders..... kind of a mess....but i'll make it all better.
