Somewhat OT.. Who Was it that was into VW bus's

I was looking for some information on the VW bus's.. I'm considering getting a cheap parts hauler if such a thing can be had. Any web sites would be appreciated.

I'm also considering one of the VW truck deals that's half a bus with a Bed.

To try an keep this on topic.. I am thinking the VW bus route since at least they're somewhat in the same manufacturing family as Porsche, and thats what I need to haul parts for anyway.

Has anyone seen the Bus with the Porsche engine in it in Excellence this month? Pretty nice ride.

Thanks!

Chuck

John Walker (John Walkers workshop) is a VW nut. Also Thom (Widebody911) is a bus nut. I belive that he has a good website w/links to others.

We're very close to firing up our 1976 Westy camper. It's got the killer plaid interior to match the green enamel paint!

Someone mentioned that bus cost around $125k to build. Seeing that Fabcar built it, I believe it. Thom has a good bus site as mentioned above. Another one is THE SAMBA.

Sage Green takes a little while to get used to. It's definitely a 70's color. I've got a mexico beige 79 westy now, and find the beige a little too tame (my last westy was a Sage Green 78).

just to keep in out of OT. my 63 doublecab shop truck, 73 torsion bar housing welded in, 73 915 trans, suspension, 4 wheel discs, rack and pinion. 3.2 carbed engine. the 2.7 core is just in there to make the mounts, etc. clears the lid by 1/4". flowmaster down the left side, SC exchangers. guess i'll have to paint it now.

JW, what is the bolt pattern of the buses? Thinking of trying some new wheels for the old girl. 4 x 100? Will wheels that fit X also fit the bus? Thanks

Just wait a year or two. If Cayenne sales are brisk, Porsche will roll out an $80,000 minivan.
