1st time Engine Drop: Reverse switch
Okay, got the lower starter nut off - I'll do the top one when I tilt the engine. Thanks for all the great tips, Gang. That one about the valve grinding compound on the allen key was brilliant.
But I've been over and over the tranny and can't find the "reverse lamp switch," and the Pelican Engine Drop tech article photo doesn't look familiar. By the way, it's a '74 2.7, US (LHD). I tried following wires from the tunnel, but everything's coated in so much old, baked-on oil and road grime, I can't (or can barely) tell what's a wire, a hose or a cable. Which side is it on, and when we say "rear of the tranny," I assume we mean where it connects to the engine ("rear" is rear). Thanks. |

it's on the end cover above the trans mount. the wiring comes past the starter and continues to the switch.

It's just in front of and above the leading (toward front of car) of the trans mount/cross member. There is a rubber boot covering it. I found that I can reach in there with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the two connectors out w/o major fuss...nor pulling the wire off the solder!
