Crankshaft Sensor doesnt want to come out..Ideas?
Everyone has to do this job eventually. I replaced the top one 6 months ago.
Came out easily. But this one just doesnt want to budge. Any ideas on how to motivate it without breaking the part. This looks like the original from 1985. Thanks for your suggestions. ![]() ![]() |

If you are replacing it, who cares if it breaks apart?

Had a similar issue on a non-Porsche project. I was able to get penetrating oil around the sensor and then alternate the temp of the metal between cold and then hot. I started with "canned air" called dust off and held the can upside down which essentially freezes (contracts the metal) and then came back in a few hours and heated it with a yellow can-torch and then finally tapped the sensor with a rubber hammer a few times and it twisted right out.

You can just remove the bracket which holds both the sensors. Lightly clamp in vise. Use penetrating oil on the stuck sensor. Tap it out while worrying the stuck sensor back and forth. EZ Peasy...

If you split the sensor you have to remove the mounting plate that holds it and then set the gap position on both sensors. Im just trying to avoid doing that.
