front turn signal wiring-1973 911
I have a 1973 911 that has the front turn signal housings that have disintegrated. To the point that they were not useable any longer. I found an inexpensive alternative until I can locate the proper housings. They were purchased on ebay and the wiring is different. I also noticed that they have an extra bulb. The fitment was surprising they were not too bad. But The wiring is different. I am wondering if someone can help me with retrofitting them to my car. I have attached photos. I need help with the wiring.
Thanks ![]()

Those look like pretty good knock-offs. I'll be curious to see how well they fit the fenders and the lenses. Are they metal or plastic?
Wiring: Do you have a wiring diagram? If not, search this site or the internet and print one. That will tell you what color coded wires go to which bulbs. alternatively, turn on the lights and signals and use a volt meter or test light to figure out which wire goes where. Your old light bucket will also help you. On the old buckets, the cavity where the wires come out had a cover, and the wires should go through that cover, then back to a 5-prong plug that plugs into the connector on the inner fender. Did it not come with that cover? You could reuse the ones from your old assemblies. If the "extra bulb" is the one in the front corner of the bucket, it will be a parking light. Wire it in parallel with the light under the clear plastic lens. The 1156 single element bulb in the middle is the signal light.

They are plastic. What I discovered it that I think they are euro. The light in the middle is a single wire where the original is a 2 wire. So that being said now what? Do I have to have a 2 wire?

In the original metal housings, the housing provides the ground connection from the light bulbs. If the housings are plastic, then there must be a ground wire from each bulb back to some common ground. Someone might have knocked this off in plastic and forgotten that important detail. f there is no ground connection and wires, then you will have to add them. Where did you get them and how much did they cost?

There is a ground for each bulb. My original had only 2 bulbs but this one has 3 that is why I am confused on how to wire. Got it off ebay.

In the original bucket, the 2-element bulb (1157) provided a parking light on one element, and the turn signal on the other element. In this, you only have the turn signal on the center bulb, and the front light is the other parking light. Wire the front and side parking lights in parallel, and wire the turn signal to the center bulb (1156).

Reviving this old thread because I have the same replacement unit and I want to dedicate existing harness wiring to make these lights function.
All the wiring diagrams I've seen are pretty much indeciperable. Here are all the wires in the harness -- passenger side. Car is 1969...
