Set base idle

My idle seemed a bit low in my 3.2 so I adjusted it per shop manual. After adjusting idle is good but now I have some lugging in second and third that I did not have before . Even at higher rpm’s . I hope backing off the idle adjustment screw a bit will correct the problem . I must have adjusted a bit too far. Since it is an idle adjustment, I don’t understand how this could affect regular driving. BTW I adjusted to 800 rpm.
