Question 911 a/d/s/ Sound System ?'s

Hello all,

This may be slightly OT, but I have an all a/d/s/ sound system in my SC and need help with a used crossover I just got recently. I now have an a/d/s/ 642csi that I want to install in place of the AX2 crossover that I was using. Problem is that the 642csi needs either a jumper plug or the remote bass control (AC500) to work. I don't have either and the manual doesn't show a pin out for the connector and a/d/s/ will not part with the information ("not their policy"). What I would REALLY like to know is what the AC500 remote bass control is made of and how the DIN plug is wired. I'm sure the AC500 is nothing more than a stereo pot with a DIN plug and cable.

All of that said, is anyone familiar with this setup and able to help me out?

Yeah Bell, that's the one. Thanks for the pics. I'm "handicapped" as I don't have a digital camera (yet). The connector that I'm refering to is the one on the far right in Bell's picture (the bottom, light gray unit). It is an 8 pin DIN. The remote bass volume control plugs into this jack. What I need to know is how the control is wired.

Three replies this quick? God, I love this board!!!

Actually, the DIN cable toward the left is the audio output to the amp. The one on the right is for the remote bass control that I need to duplicate.

Really all you need is to wire up a potentiometer

yes but without the schematics or the unit in front of me makes it kind of risky LOL
a jumper will work fine (will work just like the knob is at max)......but i need the schems.......i think i'm close to getting them, but waiting for the phone call.

Thanks! Yeah, I'm sure that it is just a pot, but I don't know what value it is or what connections to make to the DIN plug. The DIN plug has 8 pins, and a stereo pot has 6 potential connections, so there's a lot of room for error on my part! If somebody has an AC500 that they would be willing to disassemble and meter out, that would do the trick. I've got my fingers (and toes) crossed!

If you ccan get me pics of both connectors, im sure i can give you a suggestion on how to do it. Do you know the Ohm rating for each compnent? Are they matched?

Just a little background, Bell. I build amplifiers in my spare time. Im sure i can come up with a solution. Currently Im building a copy of a 1968 Marshall Super Lead 100watt based on the factory schematics.

i don't have one.....david914 does.......so i can't just pop it open and follow tracers we just need to jump the preamp with a single plug but need to know which pins to jump.
a friend in erie has one and has this done.......waiting for him to pull it out of his car and give me the info, he also said he may still have schematics me got from a/d/s.

Cool! As a matter of fact, I still have my first "real" guitar amp; a 1968 Fender Showman with the two 15" JBL cabinet. I don't use it much anymore, but I can't bear to part with it! I bought it off of my guitar teacher back in 1978 when I was in high school. I swear it still has a hint of 1970's "eau de party-hearty" scent!

If Bell can get ahold of the schematics, I'll be golden. Like I said, fingers and toes crossed!

David,

I believe this is what you’re looking for? This will hopefully get you moving in the right direction. Pcars and A/D/S are synonymous.

Talking

SWEET!!!

YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

It looks like I'll need a 10k audio taper stereo pot and the DIN plug. Both of which may very well be in my parts stash. All that's left is to determine what DIN plug pin goes to which terminal on the pot. TurboRuf, are you able to see how each pin is connected to the circuit board? That's all that's left for me to be able to duplicate the control! THANKS A HEAP!!!!
