Mystery Bolt Cam cover
![]() Can someone tell me what is supposed to be held down by the bolt I have circled with the blue tape near it? I assumed its the same as the hole and bolt out of the pic but to the right 3-4 inches and holds the rear engine sheet metal, HOWEVER it is "hidden" behind the large AC compressor bracket. Once that is in place this bolt is totally inaccessible. I can't imagine what would be back there that needs to be bolted down. I took pics but they don't show anything and I'm thinking it simply wasn't being used before. Just to be clear, I'm looking down at the TOP of the bolt which is threaded into the flange. This is for an '88 Carrera if that helps.

Don't overthink it. It may not be used in your application but that is not the only application where the housing is used.

Someone put a bolt in an unused hole so people wouldn't ask about the hole. Didn't work.
