CV Joint Leak
All - I run a 2-liter 911 with the SVRA, and last race I changed my CV Joint configuration. In the past I’ve run with 6-bolts, no cover, no gasket, and also with 4- bolts, 2-pins with a cover, no gasket. No problems with these.
I recently sourced from Porsche, a set with 4-bolts, 2-pins, no cover with gaskets. I ended leaking a lot of CV grease out through the center of the pins onto my inner wheel hubs and brake caliper, as well as all over the starter. Leaking through the pins, inboard and outboard, both sides. Is this just a case of sloppy assembly on my part? Photos attached. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You've got to fill the two extra holes with an epoxy.

I'd try some silicone sealer first, before going to epoxy.

I covered the spare holes on the boot collar with heavy foil tape from the inside before installing, no issues.

I think it also possible that synthetic cv joint grease could stop this as it runs less.

Same thing on my 914 racecar. I always clean the pin holes well and put a plug of silicone/RTV in there, seems to work fine.
