Oil in the intake w ITBs, clean catch can
Here’s a fun one.
I was changing out my rain hats for their summer version today, and I pulled off the metal plate that sits above the ITBs. I saw quite a bit of oil on the plate, the trumpets, and even on the throttle plates. ![]() ![]() ![]() I did a leak-down a few months ago during my ITB install, and it all seemed fine. I'm working with a cheap leak-down tester though, so the gauges aren't so helpful as is just listening to the intake/exhaust/crank case vent, so I guess that's not a completely certain deal. Compression (cold) is about 140psi, even across all 6 cylinders. Engine only has like 3k on a top end job, including new pistons and cylinders, and a head job. Seems bad- anyone have any insight into what could be causing this? It’s pretty equal on all 6 cylinders. My catch can dribbled out about half a tablespoon of pale yellow gasoline oil mixture, nothing like we’re seeing in the intake. ![]()

I'm gonna guess there's oil leaking past the intake valve guides and bouncing up and down the intake column, splattering on the plate.
