Engine running Hot all of a sudden

Hi 911 people,
I was driving my 82' SC Targa (CIS injection) yesterday and noticed all of a sudden that the temp was higher than usual.. It used to run slightly above the 1st white mark on the temp gauge but now close to the 2nf mark.. And it just smells like it running hot.. In New Hampshire, 72* out...
Any ideas what to look at?
-Yes, belt is on and fan is spinning normal.
-I also touched the oil to the front cooler and it was hot, so oil it going up to the cooler..
-I don't feel any air leaks when running.
-BTW, engine is off, I just turned the key on for picture, that why no oil pressure...

Also, later, after it cooled it was hard to start, and it always started right up??? ANd runs a bit rougher..

Thanks in advance,
-Bill

Maybe something made a nest on top of the piston cylinders?

Hope this helps.
