Super obscure photo Request

Does anyone have experience with - or know anyone that - took a 3.2 carrera (factory 9" wide rear / 7" wide front) and only widened the front of the car to the 930 turbo 9" width? making it 9" wide squared on all 4 corners? In my opinion could make for a unique looking appearance to the car. Would love to see photos

Never seen that, but I'll bump your thread and tell you about the 930 rear flared car with narrow front flares. It was a bit weird. I had a folder on my old computer that had all the weird 911s in it. Stuff like 20" wheels and other oddities.

Interesting! Yeah i feel like 9" wide front and 9" wide rear could look super cool.

That would be an aggressive look. I wonder how well the wider wheels at the front would fit. Am running 930 wheels front and rear on my lowered SC and on some occasions the front tires rub the non-rolled fenders.

Me thinks the grip on the front would overcome the grip on the rear...especially with a tail happy car.

This is a 930 16X9 rim on my current ST build. The rim edge is less than 1” from the strut and obviously the tire would not clear the rolled fender without a ridiculous amount of camber.

My guess is that the 16X7 930 fronts will work best unless one wants to get into modified A-arms, etc.

And BTW, Randy Wells’ gorgeous white ST appears to have 14”fronts and 15” rears. Just guessing..

Doesn't the 8x16 Fuchs from a 944 have better brake clearance than the 8x16 911 wheel due to different offset?

I honestly don’t know which ones I have. Anybody know offset of each one?

911 16x8 is ET11 I believe

944 16x8 is ET23

I have 18x8.5 ET32 on the front of my car with massaged stock fenders.

These small flare fronts that Carbone makes look nice. Looks like a 15x8 ET11 under them.

Did you make any suspension mods like de-cambered ball joints to fit the 8.5’s other than the flares?
That white longhood has an awesome stance with those 15’s. Thanks for sharing.

Fuchs from an 82-86 944 have a 911 part #. So the same offset as 911 Fuchs. Because same part.

Fuchs from a 1986 951 (944 Turbo) have ET23,3 offset front/rear - exactly the same as 911 - but the center is moved outwards in the wheel (lugs are recessed) to make more room for the larger brake calipers (basic Brembos, IIRC) on the turbo cars. These wheels have their own 951 prefix part #'s.

For 1987 MY onwards, all 944/951 were fitted with ABS, so use late offsets (ET52,3), same as the 964, 993 etc. There were no Fuchs made in ET52 at the time (although there are now, in 17") - so stock wheels for those cars were Phone Dials or Design 90s.


Just FYI, Ruf Classics are 8J ET30.4 front and 9J ET17.7 rear. They fit G-body fine with no spacers needed for 225/45/17 and 255/40/17. In fact, the 9 looks so roomy in an SC flare, you might think you could fit a 10J under there. You can't, without Yellowbird flares or equiv metalwork....
