17" Replica Fuchs...what to do? Maxilite, FVD, Fikse?

Hello all...I just picked up an 87 911 Carrera where the previous owner put 993 brakes on the car, so the 16" fuchs wont fit and I don't like the aftermarket look that's on the car now.

Does anyone have any recommendations on 17" Fuchs replicas? I've seen different things on Maxilites, Linea Corse, Fiskes are gorgeous but outside the budget and I recently saw FVD Brambaucher has these

https://www.fvd.net/us-en/FVD361900717DE/classic-design-wheel-7x17-et233-black-polished-lip.html

I talked to FVD and they said they are made in Germany, but couldn't tell by whom. Does anyone have any inputs regarding the FVD's or any other fuchs style wheels out there? Lindsey racing no longer converts the wheels and I did run across a canadian company, but their fitment isn't for the G body

https://www.serviceautopremium.com/en/products/17/fuchs-17-inch-black-face-wheels-for-porsche

I'm all ears and open to coaching...thanks!

I'm happy with my 17x7 Euromeister, picked them up for around $150 each in 2015 or so:

Only thing that sucks is the lips aren't fully polished, they're machined, so any blemishs will be crazy hard to fix.

I am biased towards the Fikse Fuchs...

Fuchs themselves make them as well. We just bought a new set of 15's from them. Lovely. However their 17's are ummmm not that pretty IMHO...

Cheers

First off, 16” wheels do fit over 993 brakes. I’ve run 993 calipers on multiple 911’s (wide body and narrow) and run 16” Fuchs over them. If your front clearance is the issue with 16x7 Fuchs, try a 7mm spacer or run the 16x7 or 16x8 944 Fuchs with 23.3 offset and they should clear.

Now, if you just prefer to run 17’s for great tire selection, looks, ext, then there are also real forged Fuchs in 17 as well. I do agree with Jeff that the 17’s don’t look as good though.

I just put a brand new set of 16” Fuchs on my ‘74 with 993 brakes and they are fantastically light and strong and look so good. IMHO…..

I have had Euromeisters and they are super easy to sand and fully polished.

fits will depend on several things, like rotor used and the specifics of the wheel.

951 part # Fuchs were designed w/ more brake clearance than 911 part # Fuchs

This is most commonly seen on the 7ET23.3 Fuchs, there are 911 part# versions and 951 part# versions, The both fit the chassis exactly the same, but he 951s have more brake clearance

visually they are close but not exactly the same as the 951 versions will have counter sunk lug holes

additionally a wide body(aka930/RSR/M491) has more freedom to fit the front of a 911 than a n/b

The 7ET23.3 are hard enough to fit on a n/b front, the 951 8ET23.3 can be fitted but it's not the happiest marriage in the world and special attention will be needed to fit them

Yeah, but they don't come polished, it's finely machined.

Wow...thanks for the great info...I just took the previous owner's word that the 16 wheels wouldn't fit over the brakes.

also, the brakes are 964 fronts, so I'm not sure what the sizing difference is

Any side pics perpendicular?
I’m thinking 17, but I want to see it

Brant at Fikse is a solid guy and the wheels are simply the best. Make sure to get the soft lip. I believe Fikse is or was supplier to Singer. The wheels are so beautiful.

If you need help with Fikse Fuchs, let me know. We are a dealer and it is a product we developed. Fikse moved into our old shop when we moved.

Cheers

I have Euromeister 7 and 9 X 17 on both cars, 84 Targa black and the white 82SC.

I’m thinking of going with 7 & 8 x 17’s. Do the 9’s fit without rubbing? What tire sizes are you using?
