Probably just a stray zip tie! I’ve cut the old hoses to make them easier to remove.

I found taking the back wheels off gave better access to guide the new hoses through and reattaching the clamps.

Also tape the hose ends to prevent dirt getting in too.

Hoses get hung up for variety of reasons. Cutting the old one's speeds extraction. BUT... do it so you can tape or somehow attach the new ones to the old. Then use the old to pull the new through to the engine.

I recall removing my old hoses (ac delete) there was stubbornness in the back (pulling front-to-back) and as others said, simply cutting them was the easy way to remove and pull,the from the engine comp. But with that in mind the struggle of getting new ones back, in a couple things that come to mind;

1: new hoses are too stiff and slightly different in form from the old ones. Warm the up in the sun. Might benefit from an extra set of hands to guide the hose up and over.

2: they either install “front-to-back” or “back-to front” as the starting point. Though it may look easy going in one direction when the ease is often the other direction.
Being that the hang up is in the engine compartment, during installation when pushing them front-to-back direction, in general some applications hoses/wires need to be drawn only in one direction. Hang-ups are most always at bends and choke points.
If you are pushing the hose from the front of the car into the engine compartment, try going in from the rear just because of the wide bend it makes. Tying a string on the end helps in some situations to pull where you can reach.

Hope this makes sense.

I taped (and wired) my old hose to the new hose one each one, and I had a friend do a push me - pull you so the hoses wiggled back and forth and some occasional rotate the hose, and it was a very dirty, but not difficult thing to do.
