Does this scare the H*ll out of you too?!?

Just reading in the engine rebuilding forum and I came accross a thread about flywheel resurfacing. Well, the great John Walker made the following statement:

"wayne, you're thinking about the 69 and earlier wheels. the 70 up are just one surface. the outer edge of the cut can't have any bevel to speak of, so the p/plate can seat properly, so a diamond stone needs to be used. a diamond stone keeps a sharp edge, unlike a softer stone which will round off quickly. but they are about $250, so call around, as not everyone uses one."

Now this is the first I have heard of this. I don't believe it was in Waynes book. I come accross "inside info" like this all the time and it scares the bejesus out of me! I just did a clutch and now I am going to get ulcers about this well maybe not that serious, but damn how many secrets are there with these cars, seems neverending.

At least you *know* you don't know. That's half the battle.

The other big advantage, is in knowing . . . John Walker. . .. .and this board, of course.

Garage
I had my '86 flywheel turned about 7 years ago without any problems and it's still going strong.

Amen, if not for this board I would have all my CCs maxed out! Truely invaluable!
