Help i need the power of the pelican community RRVII

FUCH ME, I need the Pelican community’s help. I took one of the team rental golf carts up to meet the shipper to unload my entry and parked the cart across the lane from where he was parked. We unloaded which took maybe 5-7 minutes and I turn around and the golf cart was gone, Hmm maybe someone from the team needed it and came and got it.

Nope, some MF stole it and when we finally figured out it had been swiped the team informs me that I should never leave the keys in the carts as it is pretty common that this happens. WTF are you kidding me the largest Porsche event in the world and someone is there to steal things. I am hoping this a big misunderstanding but it looks otherwise.

We finally got the numbers for all three carts we have and this morning will figure out which one is missing and I will post the number here and will be pounding the pavement looking for it. If by some chance it actually leaves the track it could cost me 5k and they have a CC # on file.

Come everyone and let’s show the Porsche community the POWER OF PELICAN

Richard

Weird. Have to think it is a mistake. Once you figure out any identifying details of the cart and post here, also tell us what we’re supposed to do if we run across it.

Thanks Noah I am waiting to here back from Ardelle Lind from the track as to the contact for security. As soon as we figure out which number the cart is I will post that and what little description we have. I hope it is a misunderstanding but apparently it is common at motorsports events (now they tell me) but shocked to say the least if this is the case at the largest Porsche event in the world.

As far as what to do I know what is going to happen if I find it and they give me any problems about handing it over, either I am going to get my azz beat or someone else is going to be in a world of hurt. The team is not happy at all either and we have some pretty big dudes on the team.

If I get a number for security I will post that and if spotted hopefully someone can alert security to it. Again I hope it is a misunderstanding and I can get this cart back as it is my responsibility.

sorry for your trouble but..in Europe when you go to Le Mans circuit always every years some 911 gets stolen. In south France where i lived for 10 years,it`s common thing at Porsche gatherings.Once in Saint Tropez 3x 911 got stolen at the same parking lot while the guys were having dinner...

Thieves know when lots of "rich" folks are together, the opportunity for stealing is high. It may well be a mistake, but more likely they drove it off, and right into the back of a panel van and left to sell it.

They can't keep the crooks out.

So thanks to everyone that reached out but unfortunately no luck in finding the cart. What I did find out is how incompetent the cart company is with there record keeping and the reason I have not posted a cart number is because even they are not sure what the number is, Very frustrating.

I think I walked about ten miles (no joke) covering every inch of the paddock up and down every row at least 6 times or more and every nook and cranny and the number they show for the cart is no where to be found.
We are thinking either they are giving us the wrong number, the cart is outside of the paddock or they loaded it in a trailer and literally stole it. I tend to think it is one of the first two but who knows.

The whole thing kinda ruined my day so for the next 3 days I am not going to bother with it and hope it shows up at the end of the show somewhere. I am taking a lot of heat (all good natured) from the team so my advice to any Pelicans attending the show is if you rent a cart make sure you take a picture of it including the number and DON’T leave the key in it. One positive note though I have seen every car in the paddock at least 1/2 dozen times.

So this whole thing started when my tractor arrived and I went to unload it and I parked the cart across the lane and left the key in it and someone (took/stole/swiped whatever you want to call it) the cart. A few Pelicans have seen the tractor today and it seems to be a big hit so I will start a post on it with some pics and start enjoying what I came here for, sharing a very cool tractor with the Pelican/Porsche community and forget about this incident.

If the cart company can't identify it then it can't be stolen/missing! Also how can they determine which cart your responsible for?

Good luck.

Just an opinion, but if it's this common, the cart company has some responsibility to put tracking devices on it.

seems easy to explain to the cart rental company that you can't be sure which cart you should repossess if they can't give you a way to identify which cart is yours/theirs.

Aren't all the golf carts keyed the same anyway?

They are around here. Same key fits all the same brand of carts.

My own personal cart has a unique key setup installed because of this.

Yes one key for easy go, club car, yamaha et. Shouldn’t the event facility or organizers have insurance for such matters? I wouldn’t pay it’s not your responsibility, ridiculous.

A 25 dollar air tag could solve this issue for the cart company immediately.

What a PITA Richard.

Possibly, someone thought it was their one and drove off in it. But as long as the rental company says to you it's been returned, but by someone else. And doesn't think of it as an easy 5k.

Good luck.
