Red face Arg!!! Rear sway bar missing???

I just found out that my rear sway bar is GONE! Should I park it and not drive until remedied?

Thanks,
Rick

What car are you discussing here? Are you sure that you had one? Pretty hard to believe that it could drop off unnoticed, more likely to rip your back end apart as the last bracket is levered off...;-(

Year of car?

Some 911s did not even have a front bar from the factory.

Sorry.... 88 Carrera Targa. I just picked the car up not to long ago (last week). I brought it in for a looksie to make sure everything is proper, etc. I wish I would have found this site before buying it and getting a PPI done, etc. It doesn't leak oil, very powerful and fast and have the full service history which is nice. The folks I brought it to called me up and said everything is super clean and very nice BUT it doesn't have a rear sway bar. They asked if I was aware and I said nope. The brackets are missing etc.

Thanks,
Rick

That sucks, but it sounds like a good opportunity to get the beefier brackets welded on and a new (maybe thicker?, maybe adjustable?) swaybar.

Lots of Targas from factory with no sway bars atall!!! Porsche apparently fely that the targa chassis flex was made more noticeable as suspensions became firmer, hence shocks & sway bars (if used) on the mild side. You'll get various opinions here, I am sure....;-0>

Call the prieious owner and get it from them or get replacement cash..(they may have removed it and didn't tell you about it) ..then get a better rear bar...adjustable one would be nice.

Rick same here i diden,t have one either i guess the po took it off for some reason. You can drive the car don,t worry only the handling won,t be at it,s best. I bought some adjustables that Chuck from http://www.elephantracing.com has on his site. Get the po to pay for them.

You shouldn't have to park the car, you'll just get more understeer, don't drive crazy, but you'll definitely want to remedy the situation.
