Porsche Crest 911 RSR vs RS vs SC Fender flares

I have a 1973 Porsche 911 Targa that I am rebuilding. When I got the car it was in pretty rough shape. After sandblast and body work, it's finally looking like a car again.

My goal is to remove the stock front and rear bumpers.

I am looking to use the RS or RSR front ant rear bumpers. My question is around the fender flares. I have been looking at adding metal fender flares that match up with the right bumpers.

I am confused on the difference between RSR, RS and SC looks.

I believe the RSR is the widest fender flare, 11" rear and 9" front

I don't know the difference between RS and SC

I DO NOT Want the super widebody RSR look. I want a wider look, but more subtle

Can someone give me more info here. If you have done this before and have a good sight to purchase the flares and bumpers, please share

RSR flares are 9" front and 11" rear.
The RS did not have flares on the front.
RS and SC rear flares are the same width but have different shapes. There are threads with lots of pictures comparing RS to SC flares.

Thanks guys. Got it on the RSR, 9 &11. That's a true wide body and probably more than I want.

I am looking at buying 73 RS bumpers front and back (From Getty Designs), My question is what size flares match up to this ?

I have a pair of RS flares for $1000 if interested. Located in eastern PA.

Jared,

I used SC flares and rolled the lips to take the flat edge out of them. I also grafted SC bumper extensions to the rear bumpers and rolled them as well (I had a set of 70 steel bumpers). Here are some pic's for reference. FYI this is on my 1966 911. The wheels are 9x16 Fuchs

Also if interested I have a GT racing fiberglass rear RS bumper I didn't use. If your up for drive to the Berkshires I can give you a good deal on it.

Joe

I reshaped the stock SC front and rear fender lips on my '79 backdated hot rod.

When i did my '72 I used SC quarters and then modded the stock steel '72 bumper sides to match

The early 2.7 Carreras and later 3.2 Carreras and SCs are all the same width, nominally 9" and accommodate up to a 9.5" wide wheel w/ the correct ET,
So you can use any of the above quarter panels or weld on flares, be advised that w/ weld ons care needs to be taken w/ placement.

I had no fitment issues w/ the f/g front RS bumper but there can be issues w/ any f/g part regarding fit and finish

W/ 7 & 8 X15S

Have you considered ST flares? I used them on my car as I also wanted wider but not RSR wide. Mine are from gt racing. This is a crappy pic but it shows the flare pretty good.

Thank you everyone. I think I am all set. Here is the plan
8" metal SC flares in the back. I found them on ebay and a few other sites
No flares in the front
RS fiberglass front and back bumpers
Making my purchases tomorrow so I can get going.
