Why not run a single fuel line without connectors

Hi,

need to replace the fuel lines on my 1988 3.2 because the connectors became too rusty, wanna change this before it's too late...watched some videos on how to tackle, and learnt from the forum that Mr. Len Cummings is the place to order...

but then I started wondering...why not run a single line from pump to filter ? why all the connections ? a connection extra is a risk extra for a leak ?

did anyone making its own fuel lines, ever tackled it that way ?

I just replaced my fuel lines, thanks to Len Cummings. There is a supply line and a return line. In my ‘81 SC there was a line from the fuel pump to the front line. Then a tunnel line to the rear. Then I used one of his new lines that ran from the tunnel line to the filter. Multiply these by x2 for the return lines. The new rear lines eliminate several factory connectors, as the hard lines and the pieces to connect them are no longer needed.

Simple answer, for maintenance.

If you want to do an engine drop or clutch replacement, gas tank work or whatever, you would;d have to cut the line with just one. And of course you have to have a return line.

If you have rusty connections, do a full on fuel line replacement, from the tank, to the tunnel lines and the engine lines. You will feel better doing it the right way.

Yes, that seems indeed a very good reason... possible future engine drop...didn't think about that !

I had the same question for Len. I think some of turns I’ll need to make will be challenging if not impossible with the more ridgid poly line.

The connections on Len’s lines are first class. I don’t see them leaking.
