3.6 conversion installation
I have been having a problem getting parts so this has been awhile, first the two rubber lines that connect the steel fuel lines to the acumalator and filter I threw away by mistake, After thinking about it, the lines were old and brittle anyway, So new lines will be here tuesday.
After taking the motor off the engine stand, I installed a new rear seal, (got it right here at pelican) There is a notch by the crank I used a screw driver and hammer to gently pry it out, I installed the fly wheel and clutch your manual will help you with installation. but remember to grease the pilot bearing and install it from the correct side, you will need to cut a hole in the bell housing so the crank trigger can read it, I measured from the bell housing bolt hole down to the middle of the sensor, I then measured the sensore for how deep I had to cut, you can do this with a hole saw, or what ever you have availble, I used a dremel tool, Installation is just like a oe motor, I have the rear bumper off. I jacked the tranny up and rested it on a small rail road ty, I then used two jacks to jack the front of the motor up and set it on rail road ties, I put a couple small 2x4's under the trans, and it was ready to slide in, I raised the motor side with two jacks. I basicaly just pushed it forward and it slide in, I decided to bolt the motor mounts in first from everything i read every one does the tranny first, I just wanted to make sure the 2 inch spacers lined up, it was a little dificult to put in the left motor mount bolt because the engine tin has been altered, I then bolted the tranny member up, from here its a breeze, the engine wiring pretty much is cut to fit the right place, install axels, the new S hose and the new oil line, you realy should get the right 36mm wrench for this job, I took extra care to make sure the B&B headers were away from the S hose I got 2 inches but I think ill buy some heat wrap anyway. I still have to hook up the fuel lines, fuel pump wire, put the seats back in, the bumper cover on and a few small things, but should start this week, heres a couple pictures, Kevin [img]
