Alignment Issue

Hi All, my recently purchased SC had 12 year old tires so had some Michelins put on which really improved the ride. I took it to the most reputable tire shop in my area.

Regarding the alignment, they spent a few hours on it but I needed to pick it up, so they said to bring it back as they wanted to keep dialing it in. Their systems showed that it was off significantly to start.

I brought it back a few days later, and they said they did everything they could and that it is within spec and much improved, but my steering wheel is now cocked 20 degrees or so to the left when driving straight. It was not like this prior.

Anyone run into this issue?

They need to reset the front toe to recenter the steering wheel.

I would install new bushings/ ball joints et if they’re original to the car before installing new tires et. Should have I think 1 and 1/2 turns each way? You can always remove wheel and straighten it until things are sorted.

A proper alignment should put the steering wheel centered. If they didn't do that, I question the quality of the alignment you got.

Center the wheel and then turn it fully left and right to see if it's the same number of turns (and fraction) each way. If it is the same number of turns from center, then they didn't align the toe correctly.

Take it to a Porsche shop.
The chain tire stores are limited in Porsche knowledge and mechanicals.

If they messed with it a lot, likely the corner balance snd ride height will need to be redone by someone with the knowledge of old 911s.

Like Dannobee already stated, its a "proper adjusted" front toe which makes the steering wheel stay centered while driving.
So as others also already recommend: Go to another shop as it's a simple "no go" that they gave you an "aligned" car with a such bad "over all toe" setting. I would even guess that the alignments on all wheels where done in a same "accurate" way. ;-)
Not mention if that has been done in the same bad way on the rear wheels where no steering wheel logic can "center" the wheels like you can do on the front. Means within a short time your rear tires then will be erased down to "slicks".
