3.2 Flywheel pilot bearing question

I'm a bit perplexed here, looks like I may not have the correct 3.2 flywheel? I don't see how I get the 3-bolt pilot bearing on the crankshaft and then fit this flywheel, which looks like it might want the press fit bearing. I sourced the used flywheel from a local tech and I just assumed it would be the right one as he helped assemble the engine. What am I missing?

That’s a later 3.2 flywheel with a lightly pressed in pilot bearing. It’s a 240mm flywheel for the G50. The 3-bolt flywheel is a 225mm wheel for the 915

Thanks, that explains it.

Bummer.... they're both 3.2, just not the right 3.2

I bought it from Scott Kinder, he's been great to work with and I'm sure we'll work something out, hopefully he has the correct one. If not, look for a WTB coming soon :-)

Let me know if you need the 915 style after corresponding with Scott (good guy, I agree wholeheartedly) since I have a good used one from my ‘86 I was considering selling on the classifieds. I have a new one on the shelf waiting for my engine to get reassembled by me someday. So the old flywheel will just sit on the shelf for years

I think I also may need the throwout bearing spacer/shim. I can't find a part number for that as a separate item. I have the circlip part number, but not the shim.

Kevin, I sent you a PM on the flywheel, looks like I will need to find one.

I sent you an email detailing the flywheel I have. Let me check my collection of spare parts to see if I have the spring shim for the release bearing. I know I’ve got an old release bearing on the shelf so I probably do have the shim too

Old thread I know, sorry... so the older 915 bearing had an outside diam of 50mm.
Looking up the part number for a later 3.2, I get 931 102 111 02 and a quick google gets me to
https://www.sp-spareparts.com/en/p/6202-2rsr-c3-fag which shows an ext diam of 35mm. Does that sound about right?

I just picked up a 993 style bearing to use in a 3.2 flywheel on a crankshaft that doesnt have the 3 threaded holes to mount the original style bearing. The 993 style is 999-052-169-00-OEM
and has a 50mm outside diam. Just trying to understand all the different options over the years.
