1977 Porsche 911 Initial Setting for Front Torsion Bar Adjuster

Hi all - on a '77 911 I have removed and re-installed the front torsion bars. Upon reassembly how does one set the initial position of the adjuster and the adjuster screw?

The car is off the ground, tires removed - I raised the front wheel to just a bit below horizontal and installed the adjuster so it rests in the middle of the space - please see the photos. I suppose it needs room to move either up or down for the final fender to ground height adjustment when I put the wheels/tires on the ground - that's my reason for setting it in the middle - as the screw is tightened against the stop it will twist the torsion bar clockwise and when loosened the torsion bar will move counter-clockwise - raising or lowering the wheel?

Thanks in advance!

With the arm at full droop I usually put the adjuster as close to the top as it will go.
Then lower car and if you can get the height you need with the screw. If not, the take the load off, remove the screw and re-position the adjuster.
There’s always a bit of trial and error required.

Thanks - I'll give that a go - simplifies it quite a bit.
