OK, so before I go ripping into this adjustment I am trying to understand what is going on here. Did a lot of searching and have found no reference to adjusting this bit - ie how to set it correctly.
What I did find is this - posted by JW. This seems to nail the problem, and seems to fit with the above post by Schilisco (Thomas - I may have misunderstood you). "if the stick is not all the way over and up into 5th, the little flipper that keeps you from shifting into reverse and allows you to go 5th to 4th properly, can actually hang up and jamb the stick from coming out of 5th. the stick needs to completely clear the flipper into 5th." Is this adjustment related to the above description? I also found several references where as Ivan stated - make sure you shift out of 5th above 60mph. It seems not uncommon, but a weird characteristic. Alan

What I did find later was that this adjustment was added post'77. My wsm goes to '85/86 and does not mention this.
But I did find a line in a thread that said it was an adjustment for the shifter 'basket' and that it was to be tightened so no play. Just not quite clear what I am doing if I tweek this. Flying blind - since I have not had to pull the linkage or gbox apart on this car, my wsm doesn't cover this, and all is good, except.. I did find a thread with another SC with exact same issue. But like many threads, it was like reading a gripping novel, with the last page missing. Regards Alan
