Is it normal some gas pedal play and click noise?

I just got around to get out in the garage and I have that same “clicking”.
Probably just some slack contact noise. I never paid any attention or heard this this before, but seems like it’s expectable even in ordinary engine linkages.
My pedal has about 1/4” of free play before I hear that “clicking”. I’ll lube as required - part of routine maintenance.
I have over 200,000 miles and consider the noise normal and since it functions as intended not worth any obvious adjustment unless I would find exactly where it’s making contact. Could be a bushing along the way is just a tad concentric

My first thought the rod was making contact where it enters the engine, hitting the tin….

oooh... interesting clue. I will check mine tonight.

Probably due to the fact I fixed a noisy fuel pump and replaced seals, weatherstrip, soundmats etc... I finally can hear what I wasn't paying attention to before...

ok, i think I found the culprit of the play, very subtle!

with the help of a friend, I was able to determine I have no play between the pedal and the rod in the engine...
the problem is at the ball socket level, if you see the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ipFBSKgv2E and slow down frame by frame, you can see there is 1mm play, which becomes exponentially bigger at foot level

so I guess that I should try (not sure if it's difficult or not) to maybe clean, remove the socket, and tighten a tad the socket on the rod .. maybe buy a new ball socket?

I also wonder if the problem is actually the reverse lever where the gap (marked in red) is (maybe due to corrosion?) and if it's easy to replace it ("easy" like I have to remove the heat blower etc to have enough space)
