Speedometer Angle Drive Leak/Issues

Hello, Everyone. I’m restoring a ’68 Porsche 911. I’m about to install the rebuilt engine and gearbox and have found a small leak from the speedometer angle drive. It was loose enough that I could turn it by hand.

I drained the transmission oil and removed the speedometer assembly. My issue is, when I torque down the angle drive, it is no longer pointing straight forward (as lined up with the retaining hole on the shaft) to accept the speedometer cable. Pic #1 is with the angle drive facing directly forward but loose. Pic #2 is torqued but points down about 30°.

I see a 22mm and 27mm hex nuts right next to the angle drive. Before I take the whole assembly apart (for my first time), can anyone explain how to torque the angle drive down to the point that’s facing directly forward?

Thanks!

Looks like the jam nut would allow you to clock it to any position.
Loosen (rotate towards the larger nut) the jam nut and try to turn the speedo drive.

The leak is probably coming from the o-ring, and if I remember correctly, that doesn't depend on how tight the angle drive is.
