How to bypass headlights for fog lights

I'm using the fog lights wires to turn on/off my fender oil cooler fan and I'd like to be able to use it without turning the headlights on. not a biggie but while I'm there...

i don't see any jumper visible here on my fuse box but I guess I need to unscrew it and see what;'s behind...

must be there right? I don't see any other way it would be...

Do you not have a thermostat for the fan? The fans I bought came with an adjustable thermostat. The thermostat controls a relay that powers the fan. I used a switched power wire and ran a wire with inline fuse to the relay/fan.

Here's the kit I purchased to control the oil cooler fan. Includes everything needed to connect the fan to the battery POS terminal.

Francesco: Replace your damn fuses! Do you see how many of them are distorted? That's from many heat cycles over years. You WILL have miscellaneous electrical gremlins if you don't.

I bought the harness with a relay that connects to a temp switch, but I didn't see anyswitch. that would be ideal, but today I tested the manual mode and I'm pretty happy with it

oh shoot, which ones? Some of them are new, I replaced them in February (the one with the copper clean but I see now some others are dark/distorted

I think I have some spare thanks for pointing that out!
(not super easy to find them online)

damn this is interesting and it doesn't seem to require a lot of work... if I understand correctly there is a probe that feels the external heat of the radiator, smart

was it easy to install?

Yes pretty easy to make all the connections. Little more work to physically attach the thermostat to the car. Was able to do that in the front trunk area.

The probe fit right between the fins on the oil cooler and works well. Where the OEM oil temp would have a plateau when the oil cooler diverter opens up in cooler weather, in hotter weather the oil temp would rise above that plateau. With the adjustable thermostat controlled fan, you can set a higher plateau and see it on the oil temp gauge.

fantastic, I was thinking the same to insert it between the fins... i also love there is a potentiometer so even if the probe wasn't scientifically perfect I can find my own temp

installed it today and works like a charm. my oil temp now never goes past 9 o'clock even in hot day and heavy traffic...
in my case I zip-tied the probe to the IN oil line to the radiator, then I drove around the hood until the oil gauge was barely past 9oclock, and then I set the temp of the thermostats inside my frunk.

i love that I also have the fog light switch inside the cabin as a kill switch
(I removed my fog lights and old valance so I'm good!)
