Help Identify this Tach 10K 4 cylinder ...

I have a strange tachometer in my possession...You have to love swap meets!

112 mm diameter
10K rpm silver button
date code 3.67
4zyl.4Takt
230/3/2
stamped 12v/14000Imp with the 14 over stamped with 20 so 12v/20000Imp
date stamped 3.67 and blue ink stamped 225 4 67

Face plate part number 901 741 302 06

its been opened. flat screws show wear

So, what's the deal with a March 1967 10k tach for a 4 cylinder ( or maybe an 8 with twin plug? )

Thanks, Scott

It’s been redone. Not original.

Matt is correct! I've seen many like this and have built many myself. Your tach started life as a standard 67/68 912 tachometer. The factory 10K faces were available from Porsche until about 10 years ago so many were installed on these 10K tach conversions.

The 20 was stamped over the 14 when the conversion was done to signify that it was converted to 10,000 RPM for a 4-cyl engine. The original 14000IMP signifies 7,000RPM 4-cyl. If it were setup for a 6-cyl the impedance would be 30000
