Show me your frunk.

Trying to find some inspo for my frunk. 1988 3.2. Would like something super clean and tidy, but there is so much chaos currently. Everything from the adjustment plates to the welded parts of the interior chassis body looks tired and goopy.

Does anyone have frunk ideas on a way to make it look tidy and serviceable? I am handy with upholstering and fabrication, but can't figure a direction.

I need to be able to throw kids book bags in there daily.
Show me your frunk! (Please)

I don't get it. Do you have a carpet? It covers everything and looks tidy.

This is the typical frunk

Queen...I think your best bet is to make a one piece carpet assembly in pink to match your interior to fit and replace the existing carpet. Hell I might buy one from you if you could make in black. I think the stock 3 piece fabric system with snaps and velcro sucks. Don't try to eliminate the carpet as everything will slide around. Come up with a creative fabric or carpet liner.

Trunk

All stock ,but slid a large piece of cardboard up under carpet,
then made a small pine lumber 1 inch by 1 1/2 at front to support
items from sliding around and moving forward. works great for me.

First you have to install one of these nice storage bars
Than just snap the backpacks onto it.

Wayne,

I like your trunk organizer and have given me what to do with my clutter. Thanks for sharing.

I like this a lot - but as you can see my parts look awful - dont want to harm anything trying to clean it, but can't stand the looks of this. Can I heat gun this tar/plastic off?

Ian C2, Flo Jo and Keith..
Those three are just plain porno for me. LOVE them!

86ssinit - Looks nice - your tortion bar acts as a visual aid to keep the kids from putting objects too tall in!

Keep them coming. Here are some I have seen (not mine).

Thinking of making custom cases, but need to keep my spare - New Orleans pot hole are treacherous.

You can probably get the cheap plastic shell type “overnight/weekend” cases that will fit and refinish them yourself .

I’ve got 2 that fit perfect in my 997 , for about 20 each from Ross , or tjmaxx-homegoods or somewhere like that .

It m8ght be worth looking at the porsche accessories for the panamera and cayenne to see if there’s an option for a storage bin .
I know ford do one cheap (was like a bigger version of the ikea (flat-pack)cloth boxes , but had compartments and a cooler bag) so I’m thinking most other manufacturers have them

Probably cheaper at Walmart or Target, but she's into design. She'll want bespoke!

Yes you can heat gun that hardened tar crud off of the strut mounts. Follow up with some solvent to remove the residue. 3M general purpose adhesive cleaner (this is the exact name- can get it at maybe home improvement or hardware store, definitely on amazon) removes this residue very quickly and cleanly.

But keep in mind that you need to replace that crud with a substitute. That crud is a sealant to keep water from getting into the trunk. The strut mount is not a tight seal against the chassis tub and that's why this crud is used in the first place. Something like window rope caulk (look around at various sources and you can eventually find it in gray or black) is a nice solution. It's like a mildly sticky clay that you can pack into the joints around the strut mount area.

I am curious, why do you call it a frunk?

Do you call the trunk in the rear of a car a rrunk? I would think the only place a real trunk could be in on the top of the car.
