'89 Center Console Help!

Hello,

I recently acquired a '89 25th Anniversary 911, but the special center console was removed by previous owner for some reason??? I am trying to restore her to original.

Any suggestions on where I can find one?

Alternatively, would a custom Porsche upholstery shop be able to re-create one? Any suggestions?

Thank you,
JD

Likely you will have to look far and wide to find a factory replacement. Mine is quite different in my 85. One of the first things I did was ditch the cassette storage. Unless you are looking to enter a concourse, just have a local interior shop make you a custom center console.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, I figured it would be a long shot to find an OEM console. I may just check with a few Porsche custom interior shops to see if they could fabricate something similar, if I had the dimensions of the original. That would most likely be pretty pricey I suspect. Thank you

The anniversary cars had a special, and as far as I have found, unique console. Not sure you will find one unless it's from a wrecked anniversary car. I would hate for that to be the case for you.

Yes, my understanding is that the console was unique to this car as part of the anniversary package. I believe the "Special Wish" program through Porsche. I will check a few custom shops to see if I can get something similar, I suspect. Thank you!

Getty makes a fiberglass 930S console that might be a good start.

Have you tried reaching out to a Porsche dealer that has an aircooled shop? They might be able to offer advice or help sourcing or getting schematics from Porsche that might help you with your console. My Porsche dealer has helped me source NLA parts for my 911SC which I strive to keep stock.

Or someone restoring one of these. Best wait o do it nowadays would be get your hands on one that needs to be recovered, and have it 3D scanned. I personally think it’s the nicest looking of the consoled for the G-Body cars. In fact I am thinking of building a copy for my Rat Rod. Hmmm.

Are you sure your car came with that console? I had one when they were new, and mine didn't have the 930S style console in it, and I have a couple of friends (and one acquaintance) who own 25th Anniversary 911s, none have that console either.

Yes, but the PO removed it many years ago and has been lost, unfortunately...

That is a good idea. I was not sure the dealers would keep the schematics. Perhaps the Special Wish program??
Thank you

The pictures console is the factory original unit ONLY for 25th Anniversary cars. The only options were either a CD holder or a cassette holder.

Id love to find the external temp gauge and figure out how to incorporate into my existing console.

Anyone have a part number?

Then, I'll need to figure out how to connect to a temp sensor. Advice welcome.

TIA.
