Dansk or Bischoff muffler
I see there a few used mufflers available on various sites. Which is a better choice, if there is a better choice.
also i considered buy a full new muffler system minus the Catalytic converter. thoughts? |

Engine specs? Intended use? Noise level acceptability?

From experience on my '87 3.2:
- While I like my Dansk 1-in-2-out (84mm outlets) I find myself switching back to the stock-style muffler for longer highway trips as this particular Dansk is loud enough to be tiring for extended periods at highway speeds. - The best thing I did to the exhaust system for both sound and performance is eliminate the cat and install a euro-style premuffler. I highly recommend the Fabspeed premuffler. (Please note that cat elimination pipes and premufflers are two different things.) - For a 3.2 by far the best simple upgrade is a Steve Wong chip. That seems to really help the engine take advantage of the modified exhaust system. It only marginally improves peak HP, but it really helps in mid range RPM. |

A single outlet stainless steel stock style muffler will be music to your ears in the long run. Dansk makes these as do others. Don't over think it and you'll be miles ahead.

For street use, especially daily or distance driving, Stick to the stock muff or equivalent replacement. The claims of power gains for different exhausts on street 3.2 engines are usually exaggerated. You will get more torque you can feel out of a Steve Wong chip.

I'm not as familiar with Carrera exhausts as SC and earlier, so maybe someone else can answer. But Dansk makes several different types, and you want the one that is the stock replacement.
