911 SC Wind Deflector kit - how to

Hi all, I wondered if anyone has an experience replacing the hinge springs in the for the early 911 wind deflectors (aluminum).
I managed to acquire a kit from Kfz-Kauert "FWK Windabweiser Schiebedach Reparatur SET passend für Porsche 911 65-83" for those interested.

The kit comes in bits and you need to install the spring through the base plates securing the clips at the same time. I spent some time looking at this and there must be a method that avoids any damage, though it was not obvious to me. I thought I would ask here if anyone has stripped and rebuilt the wind deflectors and has any tips ?

If I hear nothing back I will post some photos when I get round to doing the job.
